By water, Terherne can be reached from the direction of Lemmer and Sneek via the Sneekermeer and from the direction of Leeuwarden via the Prinses Magrietkanaal. At the lock, take the exit towards Zandsloot. By road, from Zwolle and Leeuwarden take the Akkrum exit. From the Amsterdam towards Joure, take the exit at Joure. From there, Terherne is clearly signposted and it is about another 8 km.
